There were like four things going on with this for me: 1. Practicals- It explains why a younger looking Alex Kingston is playing the oldest River in “Silence in the Library” in Series 4. It also explains how Melody could grow up in tandem with her parents. 2. She can fucking control her aging/regeneration!!! (I love how every other Time Lord we’ve seen change seems to indicate they can somewhat control their regenerations but the Doctor has to leave it up to chance. He’s so shit at his everything. lmao) 3. She totally is doing this just to fuck with people. Cosmic Time Traveling Troll. She is my spirit animal. 4. This seemed like such a River thing to say. I saw a couple people had trouble connecting Melody>Mels>River but I never did…This line and some other things I’ll write about separately made me instantly think of River. She’s such a cheeky bitch usually; this line just seemed to fit with her personality to me…just a little more malicious since she’s still an assassin at this point. #I bet that if she wanted and still had her regenerations she could regenerate into a ginger #and it’d piss of the doctor #ROYALLY PISS HIM OFF #river would be all like ‘oh honey! look at my hair! ginger suits this me does it not?’ #or ‘shut up you nostalgic fool. I am ginger therefore I am right. and I am piloting the TARDIS. BECAUSE I AM GINGER.’ #and doctor would be the last of the time sulks #trololol #fuck yeah river song #river song
