Even when I detach, I care. You can be separate from a thing and still care about it. If I wanted to detach completely, I would move my body away. I would stop the conversation midsentence. I would leave the bed. Instead, I hover over it for a second. I glance off in another direction. But I always glance back at you.

I just realized it’s kind of split up by gender. I didn’t mean to do that. What I meant to do was have Scott Fitzgerald on my right because I hear so much better on that side and I want to be able to hang on his every word. I wanted John next to him because I think that would just make John’s year, and David on his other side so they’d be near their friend. I’m hoping it’s a small table so I can also hear everything David has to say, because I will read anything that man writes. Anything. On David’s right is Neil and on Neil’s right is Jo. Next to Jo, I’ve put Emma because I feel like these two would get on quite nicely, and then Amy next to Emma so they can make crazy jokes all night.
