The first gif forever ruined the terror of the Weeping Angels for me.

Moffat went too far actually SHOWING the Angels move. The whole interesting idea behind them was that they somewhat broke the fourth wall, but quietly. As long as the *audience* observes them, they still don’t move (even when none of the other characters are looking at them.) Which, frankly, makes them all the more real and terrifying to the viewer.

By re-establishing that wall between the viewer at the characters, their fright-factor was significantly reduced.
